Inventory management

Exactly what assets are deployed on the network? Where is each asset located? What changes were made since the start of this year?

Knowing precisely what is on your network can save you money in increased productivity and efficiency. It’s also vital to know if something is on your network that shouldn't be, such as a rogue wireless device. That’s the kind of knowledge that GoToManage can help you with.

GoToManage finds all of the servers, workstations, printers, and other devices that your GoToManage Crawler discovered on your network. In this screenshot example, the results of the search are displayed on a GoToManage dashboard in an easy-to-read table format. The results of this search also include the IP address of each device, and the date it was last seen.

Try your own search

You can search in plain English, too. In the following field, click Search to look for network adapters on your network. Or insert your own search terms:

One of the easiest is the click-to-keep search, where you refine a basic search so it returns precisely what you want. Do this by clicking the relevant items that you want to keep in the results.

GoToManage recognizes wildcards and boolean operators too. And then there's the template search, which presents a list of variables such as IP addresses that you can choose from to focus the search.

Find useful searches

You don't need to reinvent the wheel. You can take advantage of what your fellow GoToManage users have developed by modifying a community search to suit your own circumstances. To find a list of existing searches:

1. In your GoToManage Web account, click the Search right arrow, and select
   Show All Searches:

   

2. Filter by your own company, the greater GoToManage community, and a list of the history of your own previous searches.

Post it to a dashboard

You can create a dashboard to display top-priority information at a glance — a virtual Network Operation Center (NOC). And as your GoToManage Crawler reports fresh data from periodic scans, your Dashboard self-updates.

It's simple: when you have a search that's a keeper, click the Search menu and pick Add to Dashboard to post the search to a dashboard for easy reference. Set up as many dashboards as you like.
